Recently, Frog Prince Group, in collaboration with Professor Zhang Yang's team at East China University of Science and Technology, published a paper titled "Anti-inflammatory Effects of Camellia Seed Oil on Zebrafish and RAW264.7 Cells Study Using an In Vitro Bioassay" in Food & Function (IF=5.4). This paper systematically reveals the anti-inflammatory mechanism of camellia seed oil for the first time and provides the scientific basis for the superior efficacy of five-year-aged camellia seed oil (FYSCSO) over fresh camellia seed oil (CSO). This breakthrough is not only another significant achievement in Frog Prince Group's scientific research and innovation, but also provides a new solution for the efficient utilization of China's unique plant resources.
Food & Function, a top journal in the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Zone 1 journal with an impact factor of 5.4 and published by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), is a high-quality academic journal focusing on food science and nutrition, with particular significance in the fields of the mechanisms of action of functional ingredients, the efficacy evaluation of active ingredients, and health applications.
The Frog Prince Group's R&D team has discovered that aged camellia seed oil (FYSCSO) exhibits significant anti-inflammatory properties both in zebrafish models and at the molecular level. It also has strong potential for soothing and barrier-repairing cosmetic applications. Furthermore, the linoleic acid content of five-year-aged camellia seed oil increases significantly (from 7.67% to 23.89%). To address the challenges of camellia seed oil's long natural aging process and uncontrollable ingredient quality, the Frog Prince Group's R&D team partnered with East China University of Science and Technology to develop a proprietary patented ingredient, Oil-Coclb (Patent No.: ZL 2021 1 0869026.X). This patented ingredient replicates the oleic and linoleic acid content and ratio of naturally aged camellia seed oil, demonstrating its anti-inflammatory potential comparable to that of 15-year-old camellia seed oil.
This SCI-indexed paper, published for the first time, elucidates, at a molecular level, the mechanisms by which aging processes influence the efficacy of camellia seed oil. Frog Prince Group's patented technology not only addresses the industry's pain points of long aging cycles and inconsistent quality, but also pioneers a standardized, scalable active ingredient preparation system. This lays the industrial foundation for the innovative application of camellia seed oil active ingredients in functional cosmetics, promoting the value upgrade of China's unique botanical resources in the cosmetics industry.
Currently, this patented ingredient has been incorporated into Frog Prince Group's Colorful Fruit Encounter series of products. Among them, the Colorful Fruit Encounter Repairing and Anti-wrinkle Cream (containing 10% Oil-Coclb) has been shown in human efficacy trials to reduce transepidermal water loss by 56.53% and improve skin redness by 28.82% in just seven days. Since its launch, this series has been a huge hit with consumers, with cumulative sales exceeding one million bottles to date, making it a hit in the winter children's skincare market.
After over three decades of technological development and accumulation, Frog Prince Group's R&D has achieved comprehensive collaboration across industry, academia, research, and healthcare. It has established a "3+1+1" Asia-Pacific R&D team, encompassing three formula development teams in Zhangzhou, Shanghai, and Malaysia. It has also established the Asian Children's Skin Care Innovation Research Center in Singapore and is collaborating closely with the independent testing and research organization, China Cosmetics Testing, to empower R&D innovation. To date, Frog Prince Group has secured over 200 patents and presided over or participated in the formulation of dozens of national, industry, and group standards. It has been recognized with honors such as "National High-Tech Enterprise," "Top 100 Chinese Daily Chemical Enterprises," "Top 10 Chinese Light Industry Cosmetics Enterprises," and "Leader in China's Children's Safety Cleansing Products," maintaining its leadership in China's childcare industry.
Moving forward, Frog Prince Group will continue to expand its global research presence in camellia seed oil, a distinctive oriental ingredient. It will deepen its fundamental research on natural active ingredients, explore their deeper properties and benefits, and vigorously promote the industrialization and application of these findings, effectively transforming research findings into high-quality products and creating a new paradigm for safer, more natural, and more effective children's skincare products worldwide.
